  • Cold weather is coming soon.  It’s important not to wait until you absolutely need the heat to test it for the season.

    Cold Weather

    First things first:

~Give it a test run-Now is the time to turn your unit on and give it a test. Test it early in the morning or later in the evening when temperatures are cooler.

~Keep your registers open- Never close vents that you are not using. Closing vents does not allow your system to offload air flow.  Your HVAC unit needs proper airflow to work efficiently and not create undue hardship on your its operation.

~Check your filters-Always make sure you have a clean pleated Merv rated filter(s) installed. It’s always important know matter what time of the season, to change your filter(s) on a regular basis. Performance Heating and Air Conditioning, Inc does not recommend the washable type filters.  They restrict airflow and cause your HVAC unit to work harder.

~Schedule a checkup-Call Performance Heating And Air to perform a fall preventive maintenance on your heating system. We will check all the electrical connections, capacitors, heating elements and safeties to make sure your system is ready to use.  Preventive maintenance can help prevent catastrophic failures that usually happen during the most inopportune time.

~Know when it is time to replace your equipment- If your equipment is old and you are spending good money over bad, it might be time to look into replacing your HVAC system. Performance Heating And Air will provide you a free quote on new equipment. The best deals are had when business is slower.   If you are interested in home energy evaluation, you could take advantage of rebates that are currently being offered.
